Biography

A life full of creations

A passion for drawing, painting and ceramics.

HANNEKE HIELKEMA

I was born in Veldhoven and have been drawing with great passion all my life. I successfully completed drawing for eight years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Arendonk Belgium, followed by two years of sculpting, a year of ceramics, three years of painting and now Living Model Drawing. I build a portrait with water-soluble materials and incorporate all kinds of small animals and figures with ink. This way you get an interesting and surprising whole. You can wander wonderfully in this fantasy world of cheerfulness, there may be a forest in your lips or an underwater world above an eye. Everything is possible. I also love animals and nature, if you look around you you will always see an animal walking somewhere, that makes me happy and I would like to convey this in my work. I also like to make paintings and ceramics and there are often details, structures and animals, just my style.

Very nice I won the professional jury prize in a National Portrait Competition for coronation portraits with my portrait of King Willem Alexander, my portraits of our king now hang in two of the eleven courts of the Netherlands.

I was allowed to come to Sterren op het Doek, at Koffietijd, I was allowed to portray the Olympic horse Glock's Johnson. Making a portrait of our mayor, 'my' king is also hanging at notary offices. Several magazines featured a nice article about my work.

A big surprise was that I received the Cultuurprijs Veldhoven in 2018, very honoured.

All this publicity brought me many assignments, I still make many works of people or animals from a photo. In various sizes and prices. So interested? Feel free to send a message.
